Step 2: Letting Go

I started my myspace a few months ago with four original songs. The first two I really like. The second two I like by default because I birthed them. They're newer, though. And like many youngest children with much promise, somewhere along the way they went astray. (But they had so much potential!) So,

I'm replacing them with two brand new, as yet unrecorded tracks.

Which is why it's such good news that....

I started a new song!!!

I think it's finally setting in that songs are so much easier to write in front of a keyboard. Matching lyrics to music as an afterthought, which I try and fail at too often, is difficult. And it's also hard to think of complex or interesting melodies without the piano keys to experiment with. So a couple of days ago, I decided to write TO the music, and it was magic! So, what we've learned: I get an idea, a compelling chord progression, some catchy lyrics, and, BAM, I'm Beyonce!





And maybe if I become more comfortable at the piano, I could add that as part of my shtick.
